My FAVORITE Breakfast Options

The first meal of the day really is the most important. Maybe you eat your breakfast at 5am or maybe it is more like noon, either way.... pay attention to the quality of this meal.

The first thing we put in our bodies for the day, sets us up for success (or not) the remainder of the day. Breakfast should be geared towards clean protein, healthy fasts, and fibrous carbohydrates.

This helps blunt the blood sugar rise and allows our bodies time to utilize the incoming energy source. When we eat a meal high is carbohydrates as the first meal off the day, our bodies experience a spike in blood sugar, followed by excessive release of insulin, and ending up in more fat storage. The long term effects could even lead to insulin resistance... none of us want that!

Here are my favorite foods to start the day with:

Spinach and Goat Cheese Scramble:

  • 2-3 Eggs

  • Goat cheese crumbles

  • Handful of spinach

  • 2 tbsp sliced kalamata olives

  • Dash of dill, sea salt, and pepper

Beat the eggs and add all ingredients to the pan aside from the spinach. Cook over medium heat for a few minutes, frequently scraping the eggs from the pan. Just before removing from heat, fold the spinach into the egg mixture.

Avocado and Smoked Salmon Toast

  • 1 slice Ezekiel bread

  • 1/2 avocado

  • 2 slices smoked salmon

  • Handful of micro greens

  • Sea salt and Pepper to tase

  • 2 tbsp macadamia nuts

Toast the bread. Mash the avocado and spread over the toast. Top with smoked salmon, micro greens, salt, and pepper. Enjoy with a side of macadamia nuts.

Very Berry Smoothie

  • 1 tsp cocoa powder

  • 1 tsp nut butter

  • 1 tbsp protein powder

  • 1 cup coconut milk

  • 1 cup water

  • 1/4 cup mixed berries

  • Handful of spinach

Blend all together and enjoy!
